Walvis Bay – Ekango Salt Refiners, a subsidiary of Walvis Bay Salt Holdings, received recognition at the recently held NMA (Namibian Manufacturers Association) Award in Windhoek on 20 October 2016, receiving the Gold award for the Medium Manufacturer of the Year 2016.

Ekango Salt Refiners is a recently constructed state – of – the – art salt refinery where Namibian crude salt is refined for human consumption. The factory was constructed in line with Government’s mineral beneficiation strategy, and is in line with the country’s HARAMBEE Prosperity Plan.

Ekango Salt Refiners can produce several product particle size grades in various pack sizes and can offer non iodised or iodised salt and salt with or without free-flowing agent.  The refined salt is iodated to international standards.  A range of different particle size products are supplied to industrial and retail markets in Southern Africa in different pack sizes and for different applications.

The Ekango factory is HACCP certified and all products are Halaal and Kosher certified. With a dedicated quality team and an internal quality management system Ekango can provide assurance that the customer can consistently expect an affordable good quality sea salt product.

The Group recently acquired the premium Cerebos brand, and soon retail shelves in Namibia will display Cerebos product proudly produced and packed by Namibians for Namibia.
